Dedicated to: All the children who love Christmas - no matter how old they are.

About the song: Originally a German carol, the author is unknown, although some give Martin Luther credit. It was most likely written as a lullaby or cradlesong for children. Brought to North America by Pennsylvania Germans, its lyrics were first printed in 1885 in the Little Children's Book: for Schools and Families.

Away In A Manger Music Clip

Away in a manger no crib for a bed
The little Lord Jesus lay down His sweet head
The stars in the sky looked down where He lay
The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay

The cattle are lowing
The poor Baby wakes
The little Lord Jesus
No crying He makes
I love Thee Lord Jesus
Look down from the sky
And stay by my cradle
'Til morning is nigh

Be near me Lord Jesus
I ask Thee to stay close by me forever
And love me I pray
Bless all the dear children in Thy tender care
And take us to heaven to live with Thee there

And take us to heaven to live with Thee there
