Featuring: our mother, Doris Edith (Manning) Gordon and Kendra Gordon

“…Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God…” Psalm 20:7
“…whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he…” Proverbs 16:20

Dedicated to: Our mom, Doris Gordon. Through your example, we are able to teach our own children about trusting in God.

About the songs: I will Trust You Lord, was written by our friend, Nancy Grandquist. She wrote about how Mary, the mother of Jesus made the decision to trust the Lord to direct her life as He saw fit – even when He chose to lead where she couldn’t see.

The hymns My Heavenly Father Watches Over Me and ‘Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus focus on the same theme. Although we sing many songs that are very-recently written, we still love the powerful old hymns we’ve known since hearing our parents sing them when we were children. The message in these two songs is still current – even though they were written a century ago. It’s imperative for us to trust in the Lord.

Our mother’s voice on the first hymn brings tears to our eyes each time we hear it. And when Kendra sang the line, “’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,” on the second hymn, the producer immediately saved that first take instead of having her sing it again and again. He said that he could record that line 100 more times and not get the depth of feeling she expressed the very first time.

Trust Medley Song Clip

Chorus (My Heavenly Father Watches Over Me)
I trust in God I know He cares for me
On mountains high or over stormy sea
Though billows roll He keeps my soul
My heavenly Father watches over me

Verse 1 (I Will Trust You Lord)
I will trust You Lord I will fear no more
When You lead where I can’t see
I know You know what’s best for me
And where You choose to lead
Really matters not to me
For I know that You will be
All that my soul will ever need

Chorus
Be my strength be my song
When shadows lengthen and days are long
Be my fortress be my hiding place
Keep me Oh Savior by Your love and grace

Verse (‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus )
‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus
Just to take Him at His Word
Just to rest upon His promise
Just to know thus saith the Lord

Chorus
Jesus Jesus How I trust Him
How I’ve proved him o’er and o’er
Jesus Jesus, precious Jesus
Oh for grace to trust Him more
