Featuring: Karen (Gordon) Hemmes

"…Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations…" Psalm 90:1

Dedicated to: Karly, Dana, Bethany, Savannah, Ryan and Destiny. May you always remember where home is.

About the song: The sisters have enjoyed attending a Ladies' Retreat in the Colorado mountains each year. The setting isn't very comfortable, with hard beds, questionable food, and many ladies sharing close quarters. But God always visits with us in such a special way at the retreat.

Returning home from the retreat one year, Karla found herself relishing the quiet comfort of her own home. And it was there that God began to remind her about how He'd visited with the ladies in such a beautiful way at the retreat and how He had ministered to all who were there. Thinking back, she realized that she'd really felt at home during the retreat, even though the facilities were uncomfortable, because the presence of the Lord was there in such a real way. She jotted down the words, "Home is where the heart is" and put it away. Later she took out those words and wrote this song.

Truly, we'll never feel more at home than when we're in the presence of the Lord. We live our lives for just a little while and then our earthly bodies pass away. We have hope that we'll be at home in the presence of the Lord forever. That is where our heart is.

Home Song Clip

Verse 1
I've traveled to places both near and far
I've seen such beauty It spoke to my heart
But when the time comes to leave that place
I long for home and its warm embrace

Chorus
Home home it feels like home
They say home is where the heart is
That's why it feels like home
Home home it feels like home
Where the presence of the Lord is
It feels like home

Verse 2
When you are searching
Your heart can't find rest
Come to the place where you can be blessed
It is so near It's never far
The presence of God is right where you are
